Coffee in Boone, NC

I am a huge coffee lover, and I lived in Boone for a year… so I learned a thing or two about how the mountains do coffee… and it’s GOOD. Here are my top 5 recommendations for coffee in Boone, NC.

1. Higher Grounds Coffee: My vote for best tasting. Taste is subjective, of course, but I like coffee that tastes rich and earthy like natural coffee, with a little sweetness to compliment it. The simplicity of Higher Grounds has allowed them to master these flavors and it creates a very enjoyable, tasty coffee. The baristas are so friendly and I have never left there without having a full conversation with a staff member. They create a peaceful friendly vibe and it is never busy which also allows for a calmer feel. Don’t miss this amazing gem in Boone and make sure you ask for a punch card to earn a free drink! (201 New Market Center)

2. Mountain Dog Coffee: For my dog moms and puppy people! Enjoy this blend of dog park and coffee shop along with specialty sandwiches and a patio to enjoy it all. Their prioritization of making locals and travelers feel at home makes you feel welcome immediately. Truly a special experience. (126 Taylor Rd)

3. Kovu Coffee: Another coffee shop with a punch card I blazed through… Kovu is my favorite study spot in Boone. The muted, warm lighting found in the side rooms is great for focus, especially with their energizing on-tap nitro cold brew. Their signature drinks are also very creative and delicious. (869 HWY 105 Exit #1)

4. Stickboy: For those who have purchased my Boone itineraries, you have definitely heard about Stickboy! Stickboy is Boone’s famous artisan family-owned bakery with locally sourced organic ingredients. They are famous for their pastries and baked goods but know their coffee too! This is a must try. (345 Hardin St)

5. Birdie’s Coffee and Treats: This is not your typical coffee shop! Nestled into a cute little walk-up coffee truck, is Birdie’s Coffee and Treats. They serve rotating drink specials roasted from Local Lion Coffee right down the road in Boone, NC. Local bakers have items featured in the shop, including treats for your pups! (3737 US HWY 321 S)
